Strategies for Building Views and Subscribers on YouTube

Look, I know how frustrating it can be when you're first getting started on YouTube and you're not getting any views or any subscribers on your channel or any of your videos. You spend all this time planning and scripting and recording and editing and then when it comes time to upload and finally publish it, nothing. No views, no subscribers, except maybe a few from your friends and family. Thanks for watching, mom. And while it is true that every great channel that you see now, well, they all started from zero. I remember those days well. They were frustrated. And so, this video right here is the video that I wish I had years ago when I was first getting started with zero views and zero subscribers, so that you can take the lessons that I've learned to massively amplify and accelerate your growth on YouTube. To help you get faster views, more subscribers, and essentially more traction for your YouTube channel.

The Importance of Marketing for Your YouTube Channel

So, hey there. My name is Adam Erhart, a marketing strategist, and welcome to the channel, the number one place to learn proven marketing strategies to grow your business. So, if you're new here, you may want to consider subscribing and hitting that notification bell so you never miss a future episode. When it comes to marketing, and essentially that's what we're doing here on YouTube, we're marketing your channel, we're marketing your videos. Well, regardless, when it comes to marketing, there's an expression that I know I love and I use all the time, and that is, nobody can buy from you if they don't know that you exist. It sounds simple, but it's incredibly important, and it's directly relatable to your YouTube channel and to your videos in that nobody can watch them if they don't know that you exist.

Leveraging Other Audiences for Growth

The first place that you always want to start when it comes to getting traction on any new channel, including YouTube, but really this could relate to pretty much any other kind of social media platform or business, is to leverage other networks, other audiences that you may already have. These could be different social media networks, this could be an email list, this could even be a close personal network of friends and family. Another easy tactic you can apply is to simply link up your YouTube channel in your email signature.

The Power of Embedding Videos and Outreach Strategy

Another thing you can do when it comes to embedding is something called an outreach strategy where essentially you do a little bit of due diligence, a little bit of research. You start finding other blogs and other websites that talk about the same kind of thing you're talking about in your YouTube video, and then you reach out to them via email and say, 'Look, I noticed you had an article on this. I've got a video on this, would you like to embed it in your article?' 99 out of 100 are going to say no, but 1 out of 100, well, again, not great, not terrible either. So, if you're totally out of ideas, might be worth trying. Definitely not my favorite strategy though.

Expanding Reach with Translations and Subtitles

Alright, the next thing you can do to help get more views and more traction on your channel is to simply translate or to offer subtitles in different languages other than the native language that you're speaking. For example, if I wanted to start having my videos found in Spanish-speaking countries, well, I would simply upload subtitles in Spanish. If I wanted to get more traction in France, I would upload them in French. And the same thing pretty much applies with any other market that you're trying to break into. You see, it's really important to understand that YouTube is a truly global platform.

Mastering SEO and Click-Worthy Thumbnails

Alright, no video on getting more views and more subscribers on YouTube would be complete without at least talking about the elephant in the room which is search. It is no secret that YouTube is the world's second largest search engine, second only to Google, and Google owns YouTube. So, arguably, if you can kind of master the specifics and the nuances of SEO for Google, you're gonna do pretty well on YouTube as well. This was actually one of the ways that I was enabled to first get traction with some of my videos, especially things like introduction to marketing, or what is digital marketing, or Instagram marketing strategy for small businesses. Essentially, what I did is leverage nearly a decade of experience doing search engine optimization and translate that over to YouTube by ensuring that I had the right titles and the right headlines, the right thumbnail, the right tags, the right description, all the right stuff to help my video rank.

Enhancing Engagement and Consistency for Success

The next strategy you can do to help get more views and more subscribers for your YouTube channel and your videos is to engage as much as humanly possible. First of all, this means having a conversation with your audience, with your viewer, and essentially asking them questions, looking for feedback, asking them to hit the like button for the YouTube algorithm, asking them to leave a comment below, and essentially really just being human. Next, and most importantly, especially when you're first getting going, is taking the time to answer or reply to each and every single comment that gets left on your videos, except for the weird or nasty ones, you can ignore those.

Analyzing Analytics for Content Improvement

At this stage, we've tapped into your other audiences, you've embedded some of your videos on your website, possibly other websites as well, you may have a few videos with subtitles translated into different languages, you've written search-friendly titles and designed click-worthy thumbnails to help get that initial traction. You're engaging with your community, you're possibly even asking for likes, and you're responding to each and every single comment. You're being consistent, and you're working your way up to those 30 videos that you're going to need in order for YouTube to properly categorize you. And you may have even tapped into a potential collaboration or two. Once that's done, the next step is to mine into your analytics, into your data, in order to find any hidden gold nuggets, any videos, any kind of subjects or topics that are performing exceptionally well for your channel, so you can make more of them.
